On the evening of June 9, 1975, Bruce Wrede, a 26-year-old white male, was in his Capitol Hill apartment at 1626 Washington Street in Denver with a friend. Their evening was violently interrupted when they were confronted by multiple individuals in what appeared to be an attempted robbery.
One of the suspects was armed with a weapon. In an effort to thwart the robbery, Wrede was shot by one of the assailants. The individuals immediately fled the scene following the shooting.
Emergency services were called, and Wrede was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Bruce Wrede succumbed to his injuries and died shortly after his arrival at the hospital. The Denver Police Department opened a homicide investigation into his death. To date, the suspects involved in the murder of Bruce Wrede have not been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case, which remains an unsolved cold case. Authorities continue to seek information from the public that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
