James Roepke, 52, male, was spending the late hours of May 16 rolling into the early morning of May 17, 1986 at the Grand View Lounge in northeast Colorado Springs when a gunman entered the quiet bar and opened fire. Firefighters arrived around 2:50 a.m. to battle flames inside the lounge and instead uncovered a crime scene: three people shot in the head, among them Roepke, a patron.
