In the spring of 1987, concern began to grow for Bobby Montgomery after he vanished. A missing person report was filed with the Denver Police Department for the 32-year-old Black male on April 4, 1987. The search for Montgomery came to a tragic end just two days later. On April 6, while attempting to locate him, Denver Police Detectives discovered his body inside an apartment situated on the 1200 block of East 16th Avenue.
An investigation into his death revealed that Montgomery had been
shot, and his death was classified as a homicide. The unsettling discovery inside the Denver apartment launched a murder investigation as authorities began the work of piecing together the final moments of his life. The case, however, would prove to be a difficult one for investigators to solve.
Decades have passed since Bobby Montgomery's death, but the case has grown cold and remains unsolved. The suspect or suspects responsible for his murder have never been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the crime. The Denver Police Department continues to list the case as open, awaiting any new information that could lead to a breakthrough and bring justice for Montgomery and his family.
