Michael Dawkins, 22, male, Black, stepped out into the winter night outside the New Editions Bar near East 34th Avenue and Gilpin Street in Denver on December 19, 1999. In the moments that followed, gunfire erupted. Dawkins was struck and fatally wounded; another person at the scene was also shot but survived.
