In the late afternoon of February 18, 2014, tragedy struck in Colorado Springs, Colorado, when 31-year-old Kenneth Chazz Pritchett, Jr., a Black / African American male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred shortly before 3:00 PM near the intersection of Galley Road and Delaware Drive. The Colorado Springs Police Department received a call reporting gunfire in the area and upon arrival, officers discovered Pritchett lying in the middle of the road.
