In the quiet city of Fort Collins, Colorado, a young man's life was tragically cut short, sending ripples of grief through the community. Dylan Salas, a 19-year-old male, was killed on the night of Sunday, January 28, 2018. A graduate of Rocky Mountain High School, he was known as an athlete, a leader, and a friend to many. He had been a two-year letterman in golf and also enjoyed playing soccer and basketball.
The incident that led to Dylan's untimely death unfolded as a robbery that
escalated to deadly violence. He was fatally shot near the intersection of Harmony Road and Shields Street. The senseless act left his family and friends heartbroken and the local community in shock. Remembered for his big heart and kind nature, Dylan was a student at Baylor University and had plans to return to Waco in the fall.
The investigation into the murder led Fort Collins police to identify a suspect. Donny R. Pulliam, then 30 years old, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. The subsequent legal proceedings brought some measure of justice for Dylan and his loved ones.
In September 2018, a jury found Donny Pulliam guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of Dylan Salas. The following January, a Colorado judge sentenced Pulliam to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In addition to the life sentence for murder, he received consecutive sentences of 64 years for aggravated robbery and 96 years for first-degree attempted murder.
