In the summer of 2019, the life of 37-year-old Floyd Robinson was cut short in a fatal shooting in Pueblo, Colorado. On the morning of June 23rd, Robinson was at Bessemer Park when he was killed by a handgun. The incident was not a random act of violence but rather a calculated plot, according to federal authorities. Investigators believe the motive for the killing was to elevate the status of the perpetrators within a local criminal organization.
Two members of Pueblo's Ace street gang,
Emilio Hall, 26, and Christopher Ortiz, 41, were later federally indicted for conspiracy to commit murder in connection with Robinson's death. The indictment alleges that Hall and Ortiz, along with other gang members, planned the murder to enhance their standing within the gang. On that fateful morning, the two men allegedly met at Bessemer Park where Hall carried out the shooting.
The investigation into Floyd Robinson's death involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Pueblo Police Department and the FBI. The indictment brought federal charges against Hall, who was already in custody on state charges, for conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Ortiz was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder but was not in custody at the time the charges were announced and was considered at large.
