In the early morning hours of June 20, 2020, the life of 27-year-old Angel De La Cruz was tragically cut short in Denver, Colorado. A passerby discovered his body on the southbound off-ramp of Interstate 25 at 20th Street around 2:45 a.m. De La Cruz, a male, had been shot and left in the middle of the road. The case is being investigated as a homicide and, years later, remains unsolved, becoming a cold case for the Denver Police Department.

Angel De La Cruz moved to Colorado with his family at a young age. He was known for his humor and passion for music. He was a father to four children. Though he and his wife, Bernadette Martinez, were separated at the time of his death, she has remained a vocal advocate for justice for him.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with De La Cruz's murder. The investigation remains open, and police have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to identifying those responsible. His family has expressed immense frustration with the lack of progress in the case. Martinez has conducted her own inquiries, even providing police with a recording of someone who was allegedly in the car with De La Cruz the night he was killed, who named the person responsible. However, authorities have told her that the stories from potential witnesses have been inconsistent.
The family believes they know who is responsible for his death and are tormented by the fact that these individuals are still free.
