In the spring of 1991, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of a Denver neighborhood, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. Sammy John Sanchez, an 18-year-old White male, was fatally wounded on April 11, 1991, in a shooting that occurred on the 1100 block of South Raritan Street. The incident, which also resulted in injuries to three other individuals, remains an unresolved homicide that has left a lasting scar on the community.
