On September 10, 2020, Zackary Smith, a 31-year-old guitarist from Denver, Colorado, was fatally shot while driving down an alley in east Denver. The incident marked the beginning of a lengthy and complex investigation that would eventually lead to the arrest of a suspect more than three years later.
