In the early morning hours of January 9, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Colorado Springs neighborhood, tragically ending the life of 13-year-old Marcus Venezio-Hernandez. The young male was a passenger in a vehicle at the Summit Creek Apartments on South Chelton Road when the shooting erupted around 1:19 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a vehicle riddled with 16 bullet holes and multiple victims inside.
