On July 16, 2016, Alma Contreras, a 41-year-old woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, lost her life to gun violence. The incident involved her boyfriend, who was identified as the suspect in her murder.

The suspect, a 44-year-old man, was arrested following an hour-long standoff with law enforcement.
