On July 16, 2016, Alma Contreras, a 41-year-old woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, lost her life to gun violence. The incident involved her boyfriend, who was identified as the suspect in her murder.

The suspect, a 44-year-old man, was arrested following an hour-long standoff with law enforcement. According to Bernalillo County authorities, the standoff occurred when the suspect barricaded himself inside an Albuquerque apartment and refused to leave. The situation was resolved when the s ...
