She was Melissa Westbrook, a 22-year-old woman from Farmington, New Mexico, identified publicly as White/Caucasian. On the night of December 12, 2016, she was shot at a residence in the Crouch Mesa area outside Farmington. First responders moved quickly to get her out of the neighborhood and down to Albuquerque; she was admitted to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she died three days later, on December 15, 2016.
