In the early hours of May 8, 2017, a night in Roswell, New Mexico, turned tragic for Robert Stotts, a 27-year-old Caucasian male. An altercation at an Allsup's convenience store located near South Main Street and East Hobson escalated to a fatal conclusion. Shortly after 1 a.m., the dispute ended with Stotts suffering a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but the injury proved to be too severe, and he succumbed to it.
The Chaves County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the shooting, which led them to identify a suspect in the case. Frank Anthony Montoya Jr. was subsequently arrested and faced charges of murder for his alleged involvement in the death of Robert Stotts. In addition to the murder charge, Montoya was also charged with the unlawful carrying of a firearm into an establishment licensed to sell liquor.
