In the early morning hours of November 23, 2016, the life of a 35-year-old Caucasian male named Jeremy Ridens was tragically cut short in Roswell, New Mexico. Police were called to the 300 block of East Bonney Street around 3 a.m. after residents reported hearing multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Jeremy Ridens lying in the yard of a home, suffering from multiple injuries.
He was alive when found and was quickly transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Investigators believe that Ridens was shot during a physical altercation with one or more individuals in the yard of a nearby house. It is thought that the attack was connected to an attempted robbery. After being shot, a wounded Ridens made his way to the yard of another house where he collapsed. The specifics of his injuries were not publicly released by the authorities during the initial investigation.
Within a day of the incident, the Roswell Police Department made two arrests in connection with the murder of Jeremy Ridens. The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Joshua Linares and 20-year-old Santiago Aguilar. Both men were booked into the Chaves County Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery and were held without bond. In the course of their investigation, police also identified 19-year-old Estrella Montantez as a person of interest, believing she might have key information regarding the case. They sought the public's help in locating her for questioning.
