On the evening of September 27, 2018, a burst of violence shattered the peace in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Juanquis Hicks, a 27-year-old Black/African American male from Hyde Park, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the vicinity of 1651 Blue Hill Avenue. The call reporting the shooting came in at approximately 8:50 p.m., drawing a swift response from Boston police officers.
