In the late hours of a summer Saturday in Boston, the life of 28-year-old Dion Ruiz, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. On August 13, 2022, at approximately 10 p.m., police responded to a ShotSpotter activation on West Dedham Street in the city's South End neighborhood.
