On a cold January evening in 2016, the life of 16-year-old Cristofer Perez de la Cruz was tragically cut short in the city of Boston. The young man, of Hispanic descent, was fatally shot on the evening of January 10th in the vicinity of 278 East Street in the Dorchester neighborhood. Responding to a call for a person shot, Boston Police officers discovered the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into the death of Cristofer Perez de la Cruz led authorities to three individuals. A Suffolk County grand jury indicted 22-year-old Nelson Galvis, 20-year-old Jonathan Pires, and 21-year-old Jessie Williams for their alleged roles in the shooting. The motive behind the killing was determined to be a dispute over a gold chain. It was alleged that the three men had planned to rob the teenager of his necklace.
