On a cold winter afternoon in Boston, on January 8, 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of Crawford Street in the Roxbury neighborhood. When the violence subsided, 28-year-old Godfrey Jenkins, a Black/African American man, was found shot. He had been sitting in a vehicle when he was attacked. Police located him about a block away on Howland Street. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead. This tragic event marked the city's second homicide of the new year.
