On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at approximately 5:41 PM, police responded to a report of a person shot in the vicinity of 970 Blue Hill Avenue in the Dorchester neighborhood. The incident coincided with the city's annual Caribbean Carnival, a celebration that was marred by this act of violence.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Russell
suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased.
