On the evening of November 6, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of an Orlando Street neighborhood in Mattapan, Boston. When the chaos subsided, 48-year-old Edwin Pizarro, a male resident of the area, was found suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. outside of Pizarro's apartment building. Another individual was also struck by the gunfire.
First responders rushed both victims to a nearby hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Edwin Pizarro succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim, however, was expected to survive. The incident was one of three separate shootings that occurred in Boston within a short period that night, leaving a total of six people shot and Pizarro as the sole fatality.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Pizarro's family was left devastated by the sudden and violent loss of a man they described as a loving father and one of eleven siblings. His sister expressed her profound grief, stating that his life and happiness were unfairly cut short. As of the initial investigation, Boston police had not made any arrests in connection with the Mattapan shooting that claimed Pizarro's life. The case remains an active investigation as authorities continue to seek information from the public.
