On the morning of September 8, 1983, a violent encounter cut short the life of Joseph George Jaha, a 56-year-old White/Caucasian male and a veteran living in Portland, Oregon. At approximately 9:30 a.m., two masked individuals armed with handguns entered the Sea Sands Seafood Market, a business located on Southeast Belmont Street that Jaha owned with his brother.
