On April 10, 1999, the body of Karl Everett Kneedler, a White male, was found in his makeshift apartment at 2228 NE Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon. The discovery was made by Walter Holland, a part-owner of the building which also served as the clubhouse for the Brothers Free Motorcycle Club and a motorcycle repair shop. Mr. Kneedler was found on the floor of his apartment, having died from gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined that Kneedler was last seen alive in the early evening
of April 9, 1999, in the company of an unidentified man known only as "John." Authorities have expressed a desire to speak with this individual to learn what he may know about the circumstances leading to Kneedler's death. As of now, "John" has not been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case.
A strange precursor to the discovery of Kneedler's body had occurred earlier that same week. The body of a woman named Laurie Larson was found in Kneedler's apartment. Kneedler had contacted the police himself, reporting that Larson had come to his shop feeling unwell and had asked to lie down. He told authorities that when he checked on her about twenty minutes later, she was unresponsive and not breathing. Medical personnel who responded to the scene confirmed her death, and an autopsy later determined she had died of a drug overdose. It remains unknown if the two deaths are connected.
