On January 20, 2017, Eddie Wallace, a 46-year-old Black/African American male, was tragically killed in his Gresham, Oregon home. That day, which was meant for mourning and remembrance as his family gathered for his maternal grandmother's burial, turned into a day of compounded grief. Family members were waiting for him at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church when they received the devastating news of his death.
Earlier, Gresham Police Officers had responded to a burglary alarm at Wallace's
residence in the 100 block of Southeast 176th Avenue. Upon entering the home, they discovered Wallace deceased from a gunshot wound. In a harrowing detail, his teenage son was also present in the home at the time of the incident but was found physically unharmed.
The investigation, led by detectives with the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team, revealed that multiple gunmen had forcibly entered Wallace's home. Despite conducting interviews with witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and executing multiple search warrants to collect evidence, authorities have been unable to identify the suspects, and no arrests have been made in the years following the incident.
The case remains an unsolved homicide, and both the Gresham Police Department and Wallace's family have made public appeals for any information that might lead to a breakthrough. His godmother has spoken about the profound and lasting pain his senseless murder has caused for all who knew and loved him. Authorities continue to urge anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward, expressing their commitment to seeking justice for Mr. Wallace and his family. A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
