In the spring of 2018, a dispute over a sum of money tragically escalated, leading to the death of 54-year-old Douglas Madrid of Payette, Idaho. On the evening of Wednesday, May 9, 2018, Madrid was shot and killed outside a residence north of Ontario, Oregon. The cause of his death was a shotgun blast to the head.
