In the early morning hours of November 18, 2018, a disturbance at the Court Louise Apartments on Southeast Powell Boulevard in Portland, Oregon, turned deadly. Dominique Scott Eivers, a 41-year-old White / Caucasian male, was shot during the incident. He was privately transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his gunshot wound the following day, on November 19, 2018.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that his death was a homicide resulting from the gunshot injury.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led Portland Police Bureau officers to a suspect. Nathan Wayne Moore, who was 38 years old at the time, was identified and taken into custody on November 19 at a residence within the crime scene. Moore was subsequently charged with one count of murder and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. On November 20, 2018, he made his first court appearance, and a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf.
After a lengthy legal process, Nathan Wayne Moore, then 43, stood trial in August 2023. A Multnomah County jury found him guilty on August 16, 2023, of Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon with a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm with a Firearm. The conviction brought a conclusion to the case, holding Moore responsible for the fatal shooting of Dominique Scott Eivers. Moore was subsequently sentenced for his crimes.
