On the night of May 25, 2019, a young man's efforts to redirect his life were tragically cut short by violence in Southeast Portland. Lorenzo Gordon, an 18-year-old Caucasian male, was fatally shot outside the Springtree Apartments. Those who knew him described a young man actively working to overcome his struggles and build a better future. He had previously been enrolled in the Youth Progress program, a testament to his desire for a positive change in his life's direction.
