In the Cully neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, on the night of February 20, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening quiet. When police arrived at the intersection of Northeast 54th Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street around 9:38 p.m., they discovered two victims of the shooting. One of them, a 25-year-old Caucasian male named Tyler Turpin from the Beavercreek area, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
