Montrell "Trell" Goss, a 37-year-old children's book author from Portland, Oregon, was fatally shot on February 2, 2024, outside the Lariat Lounge on Southeast Division Street. The incident began when Goss got into an argument with another man inside the bar. Following the argument, Goss left the bar, retrieved a firearm from his vehicle, and returned to the bar, where he became involved in a confrontation. During this confrontation, shots were fired, resulting in Goss being shot.
