On the night of May 9, 2021, a house party in the 8500 block of Southeast Harney Street in Portland, Oregon, turned tragic. Jemare Lowell Manns, a 21-year-old Black male, was found unconscious by Portland Police officers who had responded to reports of gunfire at the residence. A large crowd was present when the authorities arrived.
Paramedics at the scene made efforts to save his life, but their attempts were unsuccessful, and he died.
The medical examiner later determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound, and his case was officially ruled a homicide.
Despite the investigation into the shooting, there have been no arrests made in connection with the death of Jemare Lowell Manns.
