In the pre-dawn hours of August 20, 1969, the city of Parkersburg, West Virginia, was shattered by a sudden act of violence that claimed the life of 35-year-old Charles “Con” Hardman. A male and the owner of the Club Ada Bar & Tap, Hardman was killed in a mass shooting that also left another man dead and three others wounded. The tranquil summer night was irrevocably disrupted around 3:30 a.m. when a lone gunman unleashed a deadly assault on the downtown establishment.
