On August 27, 2021, a tragic shooting incident occurred in Huntington, West Virginia, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including Dusti Davis, a 36-year-old resident of Huntington. The incident took place in the 300 block of Oney Avenue around 8:15 p.m.
Dusti Davis was found dead at the scene, while a male juvenile, whose name has not been released, was also found with a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the juvenile later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
In addition to the two fatalities, the shooting also left two other individuals injured. Another male, who had been shot, approached the police while they were processing the scene and was taken to a local hospital. Furthermore, officers responded to a report of another gunshot victim in the 900 block of 27th Street, where they found another juvenile with injuries.
This juvenile was also taken to the hospital, and both injured individuals were determined to be involved in the Oney Avenue incident.
Following the investigation, David Lee Ross Jr., a 34-year-old resident of Huntington, was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. Ross was booked at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, and is being held in the Western Regional Jail without bail. He is charged with two counts of murder related to the deaths of Dusti Davis and the male juvenile.
The Huntington Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and is seeking additional witnesses.
