On a summer afternoon in Muscatine, Iowa, the life of 43-year-old Teresa Rowan, a White female, came to a tragic and violent end. On June 29, 2013, police were dispatched to her residence at 806 Oak St. following a report of a disturbance. Upon their arrival at approximately 3:16 p.m., the responding officers heard the chilling sound of multiple gunshots emanating from within the home.
The situation quickly escalated, prompting a call for the Muscatine Special Response Team and the
Muscatine County Sheriff's Department to the scene. Inside the residence, authorities discovered Teresa Rowan, who had been fatally shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. They also found Lance Stormm, 39, who was unresponsive with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Stormm was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital for advanced medical treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation led by the Muscatine Police Department concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide, with Stormm identified as the individual who shot and killed Rowan before taking his own life.
Teresa Rowan was a mother and grandmother who was remembered for her love of her grandchildren, cats, reading, motorcycles, music, and boating. Her sudden and violent death left her family and friends to grapple with the profound loss of a woman described as a good friend with a great personality.
