In the pre-dawn hours of June 21, 2023, the life of 26-year-old Immanuel Turner was tragically cut short in Little Rock, Arkansas. Officers responded to a call about a shooting on Mara Lynn Drive at approximately 2:53 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Immanuel Turner suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The male victim was a former defensive lineman for Louisiana Tech's football team.
The investigation into the shooting led Little Rock police to identify 20-year-old Halia Houston as a suspect. Houston was taken into custody and subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with Turner's death. She was then transported to the Pulaski County Regional Jail. While an arrest has been made, authorities have not yet released any information regarding a possible motive for the shooting.
Following his death, Turner's body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy as the investigation continued. Homicide detectives canvassed the area for potential witnesses and any available video surveillance that might shed more light on the events that transpired. The case remains an active investigation.
