On a cold February day in 2005, the life of 34-year-old Maria Antonia Rivero came to a violent end in Muscatine, Iowa. On February 23rd, she was shot and killed by her estranged husband, Luis Alberto Gomez-Rodriguez. The fatal encounter was the culmination of a months-long search by Gomez-Rodriguez, who had been seeking out Rivero and another man, Julio Sarol.
