Rupert F. "Andy" Anderson, a 97-year-old resident of Des Moines, Iowa, died on July 2, 2014. Anderson was a graduate of Slater High School and had attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

The investigation into Anderson's death led to the identification of a suspect, Makuey, who was a youth from the same area. According to prosecutors, Makuey broke into Anderson's home and killed him using a metal spatula.
