In the late hours of May 27, 2016, the life of 44-year-old Scott Allan Perez Sr., a male resident of Des Moines, Iowa, was tragically cut short by gun violence. The shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 4000 block of Crocker Street. Perez was walking in the area when he was fatally shot. The incident marked a second devastating loss for the Perez family within a six-month period, as Scott's daughter, Scalicity Perez, had been killed in a car chase the previous November.
