In the early morning hours of September 10, 2017, the life of Demarcus Antonio Chew, a 26-year-old Black/African American male, was cut short in a hail of gunfire in Burlington, Iowa. Chew, known to some as "Peanut," had just returned from a night out at a club in Gulfport, Illinois. As he sat in the backseat of a car outside his mother's home on North 5th Street, he was ambushed and fatally shot. The attack happened shortly before 6 a.m., and Chew was later pronounced dead at Great River Medica ...
