On the evening of April 27, 2018, at approximately 10:20 p.m., 20-year-old Josue D. Alonzo Jr. was fatally shot near the intersection of East 30th Street and Garfield Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. Responding officers discovered Alonzo lying in the street with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
