In the late hours of a Monday evening in Waterloo, Iowa, tragedy befell 48-year-old Diane Martin, a Black/African American female. On September 10, 2018, while inside her home at 84 Ricker Street, gunfire erupted from outside. A single bullet struck Martin, inflicting a fatal wound. She was rushed to UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, but tragically, was pronounced dead. An autopsy later confirmed that a single gunshot wound was the cause of her death.
