TaMia Se’Mone Sisk was a loving mother, a dedicated employee, and a young woman with dreams of seeing the world. Born on November 6, 1998, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Antonette Mathews and Orlando Sisk, 27-year-old TaMia was remembered for bringing warmth, kindness, and laughter to everyone around her. She was a proud graduate of East Waterloo High School, where she played basketball, and had continued her education in college. A hardworking employee at the Target Distribution Center, her greatest joy was her two children, Juliano and Ny’Ariea. Her family hoped her children would find strength in the love she gave them and that all who cherished her would find peace in their shared bonds.

The night of Saturday, October 17, 2026, turned tragic in a central Waterloo neighborhood. At approximately 10:04 p.m., officers with the Waterloo Police Department responded to 911 calls reporting the sound of gunshots in the 600 block of Lunar Lane. When police arrived, they found TaMia inside a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported her to a local hospital for treatment, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The Waterloo Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into TaMia’s death. Detectives began canvassing the area and speaking with potential witnesses. In the days following the shooting, the department made a public appeal for assistance, specifically requesting security camera footage from residents and businesses in the central Waterloo area. They asked for any video recorded between 9:50 p.m. and midnight on the night of the shooting that might show "any suspicious activity or people." Investigators hoped the footage could provide crucial evidence to help piece together the events that led to TaMia's death and identify those responsible.

As of late October 2026, no arrests have been made in the case, and police have not publicly identified any suspects or persons of interest. The investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives continue to follow leads and analyze evidence. The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been released to the public.

TaMia was survived by her two young children, her parents, numerous siblings, her grandmothers and great-grandmother, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were left devastated by her sudden and violent death. A funeral service to celebrate her life was scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park in Waterloo. Her family asked that any memorial donations be directed to them to help care for her children.

The case remains unsolved. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward.
