In the late summer of 2022, the life of Cortavius Benford, a 26-year-old Black / African American male, was tragically cut short in Waterloo, Iowa. On Saturday, August 27th, Waterloo police were dispatched to an apartment complex at 226 Palmer Drive following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Benford suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
