In the winter of 2004, the life of 30-year-old Brandon Roualah Sazesh, a Hispanic male, was cut tragically short in Salt Lake City, Utah. On the night of December 11, he was discovered gravely wounded in the driver's seat of a vehicle that had crashed behind an apartment building at 651 South Redwood Road. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital where he clung to life for several days.
Investigators at the scene determined that Sazesh had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head.
The evidence suggested that the shot was fired from inside the car, but the circumstances leading up to this violent act remained shrouded in mystery. Despite the gravity of the situation, no witnesses to the shooting itself came forward to provide an account of what had transpired. The only lead police had was a report from a resident of the apartment complex who saw two individuals, described only as teenage boys, fleeing the area shortly after the incident.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Brandon Sazesh succumbed to his injuries and passed away on December 16, 2004. The investigation into his death proved to be challenging for law enforcement. With no clear motive and no identified suspects, the case quickly grew cold. Authorities were aware that Sazesh had a criminal record, which included convictions for drug possession and carrying a concealed weapon, and they considered the possibility that his death was gang-related, though no definitive link was ever established.
In the years that followed, the case remained unsolved, leaving a painful void for his family, which included his three children. His mother, Rose Maree Sazesh, channeled her grief into advocacy, establishing a Utah chapter of Parents of Murdered Children to support others who had experienced similar tragedies. To this day, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Brandon Sazesh, and those responsible for his murder have never been brought to justice.
