In the early morning hours of September 28, 2014, the life of 18-year-old Cesar Gaxiola, a Hispanic male, was cut short in Salt Lake City, Utah. A house party in the city's East Central neighborhood had spilled out onto the streets, leading to a fatal confrontation. Around 4:30 a.m., near the intersection of 600 South and 900 East, police received multiple calls reporting a shooting. Officers arrived to find Gaxiola with a gunshot wound to the head.
