In a tragic turn of events on November 21, 2017, Hunter Woodson, a 19-year-old Caucasian male from Clearfield, Utah, was fatally shot in his Sunset home. The incident unfolded over a drug deal that went awry. Woodson had arranged to sell marijuana to 17-year-old Seth J.D. Carreras. However, instead of the agreed-upon substance, Woodson sold Carreras a bag of kitchen spices.
Upon discovering the deception, Carreras became enraged and returned to Woodson's residence.
He confronted Woodson in his bedroom and shot him multiple times with a 9mm handgun, leading to his death. According to Woodson's girlfriend, who was present during the altercation, Carreras continued to fire even after Woodson had fallen. After the shooting, Carreras allegedly went through Woodson's pockets before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement was quickly alerted, and approximately 30 minutes after the 911 call, Seth J.D. Carreras was apprehended by police at his home in Layton. A search of Carreras' property uncovered a shed containing numerous weapons and ammunition. Carreras, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, was charged as an adult with first-degree felony murder. During court proceedings, it was noted that Carreras showed a lack of remorse for his actions.
