In the warm evening hours of a Tuesday in Phoenix, Arizona, a burst of violence shattered the tranquility of a local park, leaving three young men dead, including 20-year-old Alberto Garcia. The Hispanic male was with his older brother, 24-year-old Oscar Garcia Armenta, and a friend, 23-year-old Miguel Lopez, at Desert West Park on June 9, 2015, when a confrontation erupted into a deadly shootout.
The exchange of gunfire, which police said involved more than 20 rounds, sent park-goers
scrambling for safety. When the chaos subsided, one of the men lay dead at the scene, while Alberto Garcia and the third victim succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital. Investigators at the time believed the shooting was the result of a dispute between two separate groups of people who were at the park that night.
