On July 23, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 22-year-old Daryl Wayne Belton was fatally shot on Kensington Street in New Haven, Connecticut. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert indicating a single gunshot, police found Belton lying in the street between Chapel Street and Edgewood Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. He was immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead within the hour.
