On March 4, 2016, Brent D. Bennett, a 25-year-old resident of West Haven, Connecticut, was fatally shot in New Haven. At approximately 9:05 p.m., a woman reported to police that her passenger had been shot. Officers located a white Honda on State Street between Eld and Bradley Streets, where they found Bennett suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital and pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m.
