On the evening of March 4, 2016, a single gunshot shattered the night in New Haven, Connecticut, ending the life of 25-year-old Brent D. Bennett, a Black male from the neighboring city of West Haven. The tragic events began to unfold at approximately 9:05 p.m. when a woman, driving a white Honda, placed a frantic 911 call. She reported that her passenger, Bennett, had been shot and was gravely injured.
