In the pre-dawn hours of March 17, 2022, a private car arrived at Yale New Haven Hospital carrying 33-year-old Brian Faulks, a Black/African American male who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, Faulks succumbed to his injuries, marking the city of New Haven, Connecticut's first homicide of the year. The incident that led to his death began around 3:29 a.m., when the hospital alerted police to the arrival of a shooting victim.
Detectives with the New Haven Police
Department's Major Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. They determined that the crime scene was located on Spring Street, between Dewitt and Button streets in the Hill section of the city. At the time, police officials stated that the investigation was active and ongoing as they worked to piece together the events that led to Faulks's death.
Authorities urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact the Investigative Services Division. They provided multiple avenues for witnesses to share information, including the option to remain anonymous. In the days following the shooting, no information was publicly released regarding any potential suspects or persons of interest.
