On a Friday afternoon in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of 37-year-old Jason Reddick, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on January 20, 2017, near Albany Avenue and Garden Street. First responders found Reddick at 520 Albany Avenue with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was rushed to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes Division immediately began an investigation into the midday
shooting. Their efforts led them to identify Antron Gore as a suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued for him on February 23, 2017. On Saturday, March 18, 2017, police received information that Gore was in the vicinity of 540 Wethersfield Avenue. Officers located him there and arrested him without incident.
Gore, 32 years old at the time of his arrest, faced multiple charges, including murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm. He was held on a $1 million bond and was scheduled for arraignment on the following Monday.
Jason, who was affectionately known as "Kiss," was born in Hartford on November 9, 1979. He attended the Hartford school system and had recently been employed by the Hartford Courant. Remembered for his great spirit and sense of humor, he had a laugh that could make others laugh along with him. He enjoyed collecting the latest sneakers and listening to music with his friends. Above all, he loved his family and cherished being a father to his only child.
